Delayed Flight? A New US Rule Could Mean You Get Less From Your Airline.
The one upside to a delayed flight was always the chance at compensation, some small way to right the wrong.
Now, a rule taking effect in the US on October 19 changes how airlines report flight delays and could make carriers less likely to provide meals, hotels, and rebooking for delayed passengers.
The updated rule comes from the Department of Transportation, which is narrowing what counts as the airline's fault. The DOT's own analysis says the change will likely mean less assistance for stranded passengers.
