The World’s Largest Ice and Snow Festival Is Underway in China

One of the most surreal winter events on the planet, the Harbin Snow and Ice Festival turns northeastern China into a glowing city of ice each winter. Towering sculptures, illuminated streets, and entire frozen neighborhoods are built from scratch using massive blocks of ice cut from the frozen Songhua River, then fused together with water that freezes instantly on contact.
