FIFA World Cup Travel Prices Are Already Climbing

Soccer’s most anticipated tournament is still a year away, but when the 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to North America, experts expect record-breaking crowds in all 16 host cities. That likely means fierce competition for hotel rooms, flights, and other travel essentials.

According to Expedia’s debut Fan Travel Outlook, the next few months are the best time to book a trip to catch a World Cup match without overspending. Their data shows just how much the tournament is already shaping travel trends: searches for host cities in the US, Canada, and Mexico are up 125% compared to this time last year, and travel costs are anticipated to keep rising over the next year.

So if you’re planning on attending (or even visiting any of the host cities next year), here’s how to beat the pricing surge.
